Huawei P10 and P10 Plus Review – Two Powerful Camera PhonesPrint
Huawei’s latest flagships, the P10 and P10 plus, continues on from where the P9 left off. Again featuring the Leica camera, the Huawei P10 aims to take it to the next level with further improvements and features. Does it have enough to stand out from the rest? In this review, we will have a look at the many key features of the Huawei P10 series.
Body & Screen
The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus has a minimalist back design that is definitely aesthetically pleasing, with curved edges in all-metal surface. While many other phone manufacturers such as Samsung and LG continue to increase screens size, the Huawei P10’s screen remains compact at 5.1 inches, allowing for easier one-hand viewing and pocket fitting. For those that want a larger screen though, the P10 Plus has 5.5 inches with a Quad-HD display to allow for great viewing.
Another great feature of the P10 is that the Australian models comes with 4G+3G dual SIM. This means that the P10 is one of the only few phones that the Dual SIM will still function after the closure of 2G. With Telstra already shutting 2G down and Optus and Vodafone expected to follow in only a few months, if you need a Dual SIM phone, the P10 is an excellent option.
As expected, the P10 uses the latest corning gorilla glass 5 to give the phone that extra little bit of protection. The fingerprint scanner has also been relocated to the front of the phones for convenience, whilst remaining extremely fast as usual.
The Huawei P9’s success was largely due to its brilliant Leica camera, so it makes sense for Huawei to continue its partnership with Leica. The P10 and P10 Plus also comes with the Leica camera, with the rear duals cameras shooting at 20+12 megapixels and the front camera at 8 megapixels. If shooting photos are a main priority, the Huawei P10 is certainly a strong contender as it is able to take many detailed looking shots.
Processor and Memory
As expected, Huawei has equipped the P10 and P10 Plus with the latest Kirin 960 processor, which has proved to be blazingly fast, shown by both benchmarks and real world usage. Memory-wise, Australian models of the P10 have 64GB of on-board storage and 4GB of RAM, and the P10 Plus has 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. That’s quite a lot of storage and RAM, so you’ll be able to run many apps at once without any issues. If you need more storage though, you’ll be able to add a microSD card into the second slim slot.
A phone, no matter how powerful, is of no use if the battery is out. Huawei recognises this and has always taken plenty of care to ensure that their phones pack a large battery. And that is no different with the P10 and P10 Plus, both sporting massive 3200mAh and 3750mAh batteries respectively. As a result medium to heavy users should be able to get a full days of battery, but if you do run out Quick Charge technology has you covered, capable of recharging from 0% to 30% in less than 20 minuts with the cable and charger provided.
The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus has everything that you want in a 2017 flagship. A good-looking design, detailed cameras, powerful CPU, plenty of memory, and decent battery life. Being cheaper than Samsung or Apple’s latest models, Huawei has once again delivered a powerful phone that is able to compete against the rest and we would recommend to anyone after a camera phone with great performance.
