After the success of the OPPO F1s, OPPO has introduced a new budget handset, the A57 to Australia. Once again it has promised to offer some great features in a budget phone, boasting of a 16 megapixel front camera and plenty of performance. How does the OPPO A57 compare against the others? In this review, we will highlight the key features of the A57.

Oppo A57 Black and Gold

Body & Screen

The OPPO A57 has a full metal unibody, giving the phone an premium feel and stylish look that is usually only on higher end phones. It has a 5.2 inch IPS screen to allow for great viewing while still remaining compact and easy to hold. Colours are vivid and viewing angles are also good. What really makes this phone stand out though is its integrated fingerprint scanner on the home button, which you won't usually find on a phone at this price range. OPPO has also used Gorilla Glass 4 to add some protection against falls.

One of the biggest selling points of OPPO phones are its excellent selfies cameras. The A57 is no exception, with a 16 megapixel front camera and 13 megapixel back camera for detailed pictures, especially in good lighting conditions. The 16 megapixel front camera is with a f 2.0 aperture and can record video at Full-HD resolutions. OPPO has also included many other features such as filters, panorama, and beauty mode to allow for many different ways to express your selfie. The 13 megapixel back camera is not as detailed as the front camera but still capable of taking some decent shots.

Processor and Memory

Like the F1s, the OPPO A57 also has some impressive hardware, with 3GB Of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage. This will allow you to store an run many apps simulatenously. OPPO has chosen a Spandragon 435 chipset this time around as opposed to a Mediatek chip on the F1s, which will be able to hand most basic tasks without lag. The A57 also has the usual microSD slot, so if you are after more storage a microSD of up to 256GB can be inserted.

Battery Life

The OPPO A57 has a 2900mAh battery to power its 5.2 inch screen, and battery life is commendable. As you'd expect with phones nowadays, the A57 should easily get through the day without any problems if you are a medium to heavy user, and should last more than one day if you are an light user.

To conclude, OPPO has once again produced a phone which looks good, has a great selfie camera and fingerprint scanner, while still offering great performance and decent battery life. Sure it's not a flagship, but for its price range, there aren't many better options out there. We would recommend the OPPO A57 to anyone who is after a good-looking and well-performing budget phone.
