J8 Samsung camera

There was much ado about the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 recently. Members of the media were raving about the new gadget and its solid features. This year, Samsung has once again pushed the envelope of hardware design. The brand managed to fit a 4000mah battery into a phone almost the same size as the Note 8, all while retaining the headphone jack and notch-less display.

But despite the acclaim and good reviews, some are of the opinion that the Samsung Note 9 may not be the most exciting release this year. The humble Galaxy J8 offers much cause for celebration because, for the first time in a long time, Samsung has launched a dual SIM phone in the Australian market.

About the Samsung Galaxy J8

DETAILS

The Samsung Galaxy J8 is a new mid-range phone from Samsung's extensive collection of smartphones and phablets. Sporting an octa-core CPU, a Snapdragon 450 chipset, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, this device is great for all your daily mobile requirements, from making and receiving calls to chatting on messenger apps to browsing the Internet. Its trademark Samsung Super AMOLED display has an integrated touch function across its 6-inch screen. Besides its dual SIM capability (4G/3G dual standby), the J8 has excellent network connectivity and SIM slots accommodate all three major Australian networks.

This unit weighs around 177 grams and is 8.2 millimetres thick. There is a designated MicroSD slot that allows you to expand existing storage space. The body is built with a glass front and plastic back and frame. Bluetooth, MicroUSB 2.0 and USB on-the-go connections are available. You can also activate its built-in FM radio and loudspeaker or record audio anytime at your convenience. A rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and accelerometre provide security and ward off unauthorised access.

Rounding out the package is a dual rear camera with a 16 MP primary and a 5 MP sensor for depth sensing, helping you get that perfect portrait shot. The selfie camera is just as powerful as the rear, also with a 16 MP capacity. Both cameras can capture 1080p@30fps videos and have LED flash features. However, panorama and HDR shots are accessible only through the rear camera. The decent chip, combined with the non-removable 3500 mAh Li-Ion battery, means this phone will have excellent battery life. In fact, in its best condition, it can play 112 hours of music and cover 23 hours of talk time.
