On first look, the LG Q6 looks just like their latest flagship, the LG G6. But unlike the G6, LG Q6 is not a flagship phone, it is a budget phone. But does the LG Q6 still have enough to offer to make it an attractive purchase? In this post, we'll have a look at all the features of the LG Q6.

Design

LG Q6

Body and Screen

The LG Q6 has a 5.5 inch Full-Vision display that has a similar look to the LG Q6, at 1080 x 2160 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. LG are known for fitting great displays on their phones, and the Q6 is no exception, with a very detailed and vibrant panel. It is slightly smaller than the LG G6 which is 5.7 inches, which does allow the LG Q6 to be very easy to hold at only 69mm wide and 8mm thin. Although it has an aluminium frame on the perimeter, one of the compromises LG has made is its plastic back. Although it won't give you the premium feel of the metal+glass combo in the LG G6, the Q6's plastic is a bit glossy and does look quite sleek. Plastic also means that it is lighter to hold, adding to the comfort. The LG q6 screen is coated with Gorilla Glass to give it that extra bit of protection against damage. Like the G6, the Q6 also meets the MIL-STD-810G military certification. One feature not in the LG Q6 is the fingerprint scanner, with the LG Q6 instead featuring facial recognition to unlock your phone. It simply requires user to hold up their phone and the screen will unlock, but there is always the traditional pass code unlock as well.

Camera

The LG Q6 has a 13 megapixel back camera and 5 megapixel front camera, to allow the user to take some decent photos. The front camera has a wide angle of 100 degrees to allow you to get a greater view and fit more friends into the photo. While you can't expect LG to pack a flagship camera in a budget handset, the LG Q6 camera is no slouch and performs very well for the price, capable of taking some detailed shots. LG's camera app is decent as well, with the usual filters and panorama to allow you to make the most of your camera

Performance

Processor and Memory

The LG Q6 has 32GB of on-storage and 3GB of RAM, allowing you to store and run many apps and media simultaneously. If you need extra storage though, the usual MicroSD slot is there for you to expand the storage up to 256GB. You won't get the blazing fast Snapdragon 821 chipset found in the LG G6, as the LG Q6 has a budget Snapdragon 435 chipset, but it has proved to be a well performing and power efficient chipset and should allow you to run most basic to medium apps and processes without many issues.

Battery Life

LG has always recognised that battery life is very important to any phone, and that is also the case with the Q6. LG Q6 is equipped with a large 3000mAh battery and should be power-efficient thanks to the Snapdragon 435 chipset. Under normal use, medium to heavy users should be able to last the day easily, while light users might be able to get even longer battery life. Decent battery life combined with its Full-vision display is a nice combo for media viewing. If you do find your LG Q6 running low on charge, topping it up is reasonable quick, with the LG Q6 recharging from 0% to 100% in around one and a half hours.

Conclusion

The LG G6 is a budget phone that retains some features of the flagship, the G6. A full-vision display already is enough to give it an edge over its alternatives, with a big screen in a small and comfortable to hold body. Add in decent cameras, generous amounts of memory, and good battery life and you have a nice all-round phone. We would recommend the LG Q6 for anyone who wants a budget phone but still wants to view lots of media, as its Full-vision screen is nice to hold and looks fantastic. Where to buy?
