Body

The Meizu Pro 7 Plus comes with a 5.7", Quad HD AMOLED display that is a sight to behold. High vibrancy and excellant brighness make this display great for viewing even under direct sunlight while the size is just big enough that you can ditch your tablet and use it for viewing needs. Complementing the screen is a minimalist unibody brushed aluminum shell with a few subtle antenna lines. The highlight here is the secondary AMOLED screen directly below the dual rear cameras. Offering a variety of information such as a pedometer, weather updates, and notifications makes it incredibly useful, but it also comes with a killer function that I will detail later in this review.

 

Cameras

The Pro 7 Plus comes with dual rear cameras, both in standard f/2.0, with the secondary sensor taking monochrome pictures to enhance the detail. Picture quality was good, with excellant contrast and good colour reproduction. The dual lenses also offer a depth of field/bokeh mode, emulating the kind of picture you might take with a DSLR.

The front facing camera is a 16 mp f/2.0, with the accomplaying software offering all the usual features like beautify and whiten. Shots are decent, but theres no real reason to use it. That is because you can use the secondary display as a viewfinder and take selfies using the rear cameras. The improvement in quality cannot be overstated, this is a killer feature for the selfie afficiando. 

 

Performance

Equipped with the deca-core MT6799 Helio X30 and 6 GB of ram the Pro 7 Plus blows most flagships out of the water in the specs department. The interface was snappy and quick under testing, and we had no issues with some of the most demanding mobile games, through there was noticible warming through we remain unconcerned due to the excellant thermal properties of alumnium.


Software

The Pro 7 Plus comes with Flyme 6 out of the box, a heavily skinned and modified version of Android 7 (Nougart). While not the latest version, Flyme does offer a wealth of additional features not available in standard Android such as locking and unlocking of apps via the fingerprint reader. All other software installed is standard out of the box.

 

Additional Features

Battery life with the huge 4000mAH non-replaceable battery is massive, with the phone comfortably achieving 4+ hours of screen on time under daily use, and if you are an extremely heavy user, Meizu has you covered with their mCharge 4.0 fast charging solution delivering about 65% charge in 30 minutes, faster than almost all other charging solutions in the market.

With one bottom firing speaker, the sound on the Pro 7 is OK, with decent clarity and remaining distortion free until the very highest volumes. A highlight is in the inclusion of the Cirrus Logic CS43130 DAC used on flagships like the Samsung S8 ensuring that the headphone jack is crystal clear.
