Optus are shutting down all its 2G networks on 1 August 2017, and Vodafone will soon follow suit on 30 September 2017. If you are still using a phone which only has 2G bands, it is best to upgrade to a 3G or 4G phone as soon as possible because after these closure dates, 2G networks will no longer be available for you to make or receive calls. The good news is that the upgrade won't be as expensive as it used to be, as there are now many cheap 3G or 4G phones now available for under $100. Here are 5 great options for under $100, the first two options being keypad phones, and remaining three options touchscreen smartphones.

Aspera F26

Aspera F26

It is the perfect phone for seniors who want something of a similar design and ease of use to their old phones, with an simple interface and a clear loudspeaker. It also features some modern features of a basic camera, bluetooth connectivity and a microSD slot for memory expansion, to give the user more freedom. If you are looking to buy the Aspera F26 check it out now.

Konka U3 Konka U3

Similar to the Aspera F26, the Konka U3 is a cheap phone which also has access to all Australian 3G bands. The Konka U3 also has a large keypad with a loud and clear speaker to also make it a great option for seniors. Make sure to check the Konka U3 out.

ZTE Zume 5 ZTE Zume 5

The ZTE Zume 5 is one of the cheapest 4G phones available, and it's also a touchscreen smartphone, making it a perfect upgrade if you are after your first smartphone. It is quite impressive given the price as it features a 5 megapixel back camera and 2 megapixel front camera, a 4 inch 480 x 800 pixel screen, and an Android Marshmallow 6.0 Operating System. Currently on sale, check out the ZTE Zume 5 now!

Alcatel OneTouch Pop 2 Alcatel OneTouch Pop 2

Although the manufacturer is different, the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 2 has almost identical specifications to the ZTE Zume 5. The differences are that it is available in white, while the Zume 5 is only available in black. While it is a 4G smartphone as well, it has an extra 3G 900Mhz frequency which Vodafone and Optus use, to give you that extra bit of assurance in network connectivity. However its front camera is slightly weaker than the Zume 5, and it has a older Android 5.0 Operating System, but it shouldn't make much difference in basic use. Make sure to swing by and check out the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 2

Alcatel Dex Alcatel Dex

Last on the list is the Alcatel Dex. With a 5 inch touch screeen, it is much larger than the two options above.
